Volcano Emissions Tax

When, oh, when will Washington begin taxing the biggest contributor to global warming this planet has ever seen!?! Volcanoes! This menace needs to be brought under control and I believe a Carbon Tax would be the best thing. Let's tax the citizens of Alaska, Montana, South Dakota, Hawaii & Washington State! Stop these green house gas emissions now! (Chanting - Little Lava Book! Little Lava Book!) These states should immediately start paying for the carbon they are allowing to be spewed into OUR skies!

(Okay, I'm now removing my tongue from my pink, little cheek ...)

War Deficit vs. Social Welfare Deficit

About 2pm Friday afternoon it became obvious to me why Mr. BO is spending like a drunken sailor. They looked at the deficit spending of President George H. W. Bush over the last 7 years and revved up their engines! Unfortunately, the left utterly misinterpreted why (most) American's accepted his deficit spending ... but abhor the numbers currently being crammed side ways up our ... well ... you get the picture.

Like most Americans, I understood why we needed to go after Iraq. It's the Bully Principle. If you can't pick a fight with the biggest bully on the play ground you go after his shorter, stouter friend! You show the bigger bully exactly what will happen if he comes after you! And it was a good idea at the time (when we still had a spine) ... and ... yes, where American's war time spending is concerned, my explanation is a little too simple ... the war deficit was placed on top of the difficulties that hit after 9/11 ... and the additional spending on social welfare drug supplement programs. Again, all of that is too simple. But you get the idea. The lefties saw the deficit and started to drool !!!

They thought that America had become numb to ALL deficit spending. That we would roll over if we were told that what they are doing is "in our best interest." They thought we'd swallow the watermelon sized spending programs just because we were already in a deficit. AND ... we'd already bailed out the banks and automotive companies ... on the Bush Watch!  It's all too unfortunate ... but we didn't start speaking up in time to stop this.

BO and his cohorts are now knee deep in Social spending programs.  And we are F * # % # D. BO has steered this RV down a road that we can't handle ... the suspension of this vehicle can't hold the weight ... the bumps in the road are going to take out the transmission, breaks, oil pan, suspension ... and unfortunately GAS TANK !!!    B O O M ...  I'm afraid that we are witnessing the end of the America that we were born into.

Most of the world doesn't care that we might go the way of the Edsel Car. They've been waiting for this for centuries. They will not assist us as we go down. BO will not be able to get the U.N., E.U., G6, G8 ... the WORLD to send tow truck to get us out of this mess. Not only that, but China, Cuba, Russia, Venezuela, et al ... are lighting cigarettes over the fire of our flame-ridden gas tank! We are screwed ... if we stay on this road much longer.

I wish I'd been able to see this sooner. I'm not an economist ... but I knew what it meant to spend more than you earn. It means bankruptcy or ... at the very least ... unending phone calls from businesses that you promised to pay and who want to take your car, home, furniture ... or anything else of value that you have!  Because I understood the IRAQ and AFGANASTAN wars ... I didn't make a stink.  My mistake ... but NOW I can write, call, email and make my voice heard.  And so can you !!!

Don't Blame AIG for Bonus Debacle

The U.S. Government signed the "bail out" documents that gave quintillions to AIG! Just like the individuals that signed house loan documents without reading them (or understanding them), Washington is liable for their failure to read and understand! AIG is doing business the way they've always done it ... and so is Washington.

"Bonus Gate" is a made-up problem. Ask yourself this ... what is the BO administration trying to do with it's right hand while we watch it's left-hand strangle AIG?  Do yourself a favor, and don't fall into this trap!

YES! Keeping BO Honest

I'm impressed by the many websites that have taken it upon themselves to track our new President's campaign promises. The best of the best, in my opinion, is http://politifact.com/truth-o-meter/promises/. Let's see if people in all areas of the media can hold this man's feet to the fire for half the time they villified President Bush (or any republican president).

Keep an eye out for the "compromises" and "failures" ... If they don't greatly out number the "successes" ... I'll eat my lap top!

Truth at Christmas

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!
Yes, it's that time of year when people are not really all that happy. Not celebrating with co-workers, family & friends. Generally, not having a good time. But, why? Isn't everyone supposed to be of good cheer ... love their fellow man and give thanks for all of their blessings? Well, yes it is .... but some are having a hard time finding "thankful". Why? Well, they're getting bombarded with the media mogul's idea of "good will to men" ... ... doom & gloom about the world! Can you blame regular people for putting away their Red & Green Colored Glasses? Well, in an effort to give someone a list of things they CAN be thankful for ... here is my personal list. Things I know about myself and my life every day!

1.   I'm thankful that everything in my life is temporary.
2.   I'm thankful that change is always right around the corner.
3.   I'm grateful that I always get a second chance to succeed.
4.   I'm grateful for the 100 people who think about me often.
5.   I'm thankful for the 50 people who wish I were still in their life.
6.   I'm grateful for the 20 people who pray for me daily.
7.   I'm thankful for the ten men who wish they'd kept dating me.
8.   I'm thankful for the five people who wish I would call them today.
9.   I'm grateful for the 1,000,000 people who will change my life in the future.
10.   I'm grateful that I am unique and amazing.
11.   I'm thankful that I am capable of making miracles happen today.
12.   I'm thankful that I am a miracle to someone in my life.
13.   I'm grateful that my smiles make the world a richer place.
14.   I know impossible is simply possibility playing hide-and-go-seek.
15.   I believe, without question, that fear of the unknown is unnecessary.

Merry Christmas to all and to all a good 2009!  - Colista

O'Reilly ... Faith vs Force

Bill O'Reilly really brings out the ugly in some people!  Yea, that's not really news ...
Today, I tried to read through the "comments" to Mr. O'Reilly's recent article "Why Christmas Matters." I found, unfortunately, that most of the people posting tended to blabber on about why "believers" are delusional idiots and why non-believers are soul-less idiots (I'm paraphrasing). I hardly found one comment that could explain why having or not having faith is a good thing. In an effort to counsel both sides I offer the following:

FAITH vs. FORCE:

When will people learn that you give ultimate power to anything you fight against?

Learn this now ... speak FOR your faith (whatever doctrine you adhere to). Certainly don't write hateful things about humanists, secularists or athiests. The same advice goes out to non-believers of all types (see the big-three above) ... don't fight against any faith. Instead tell everyone why it's better to "not believe" like you do! What part of non-believing brings you happines, peace, prosperity, a good conscience, love, kindess ... where does your moral compass come from ... and, more importantly, where does it lead you to?

I have yet to meet a person of great faith that wasn't able to explain how much their faith enhances their lives, bringing happines, peace, prosperity, a good conscience, love and kindess. I have, however, never found a individual claiming no-faith in a power greater than themselves that could tell me what was good about what they "didn't believe." Inevitably people who "abhore religion" must turn to a version of the Ten Commandments for their morality. It's the pure definition of ironic. Because of this ironic twist, "non-faith" individuals turn to hating religion and the religious. But in doing so they prove that faith is the far greater test for humanity ... being hated but not hating in return.

Remember ... to all who fight against something ... you can never, ever beat people into believing what you do! Be your faith. Be happy in your faith or un-faith ... that's what will ultimately draw people in. Why should I follow you into "your" faith? What makes it "right" for me? Talk intelligently, be happy (especially be happy) ... SHOW ME what's good about who and what you are ... especially if you claim to believe in nothing greater than your own instincts and mind.

Arguing is bad enough ... arguing AGAINST something and calling people usless names simply makes people roll their eyes, laugh and walk away ... or click off, as I'm doing right now.

When Did Fact-Based Journalism ...

become an OXY MORON?  As I remember it ... when I was in college, lo those many years ago ... we were required to have actual facts in our journalism papers. Going-to-the-library-based-facts. The Who, When, Where, Why, and How based facts.

If we did our research, had a substantial reason for writing the words, and could then put more than six coherent, correctly spelled, sentences together ... we got well-founded A's or B's. We didn't even think of putting our "opinions" into the papers ... that was for Poetry 101 or Composition 203. For Journalism 100-900 classes ... we were required to report facts based on our own research.

So, about 8 years ago ... President George H.W. Bush was elected ... yes, ELECTED ... to office. This upset many people in all areas of "journalism" (now, a word forever, correctly presented with quotes around it). These "intelligent", "well meaning", "journalism" majors became enraged. And, like most humans who become chiefly motivated by emotion, they forwent ALL of their "ethical" standards and began "reporting" with a skewed eye to "motivating" people to make their lives better ... BY BELIEVING WHAT THE "JOURNALISTS" BELIEVE.

I, for one, lone 40ish woman, do not believe that "journalists" who are "journalificating" with their "journaligiouslity" have any clue what main-stream, middle-of-the-road Americans BELIEVE !!  They no more represent the views and opinions of me or my friends than a bunny represents the beliefs of a sea gull. "Journalists" have given up seeking facts ... and are now only seeking to "effect" their readers (or listeners). They no longer surround themselves with a diverse group of humans that could dialogue about different views and opinions ... they are cloistered and alone in their tight-knit groups of "journalism" devotes.  Sad, really. Not seeing light through anything but your own red-tinted glasses (rose is too nice a color for how these morons tend to express their views about my America).

So, until "journalism" schools begin teaching "journalism" the way it should be ... fact based and opinless -- unless it's an op-ed piece, I will pay NO attention to their rantings or ravings. They are useless bags of hot wind ... filling their own sails and steering themselves and the rest of their "followers" WAY OFF COURSE.  Ta-ta-for-now ... you mindless "journalifilatious" idiots!

Obama Skepticism Is Not Racism

I don't get a lot of comments on my BLOG. I don't expect to. I'm a middle aged woman who comments on my own well-read, educated opinions. But my recent fight song for my brother seems to have brought out an individual who is engaging in the most evident of Obama-supporter tactics ...

If you question BO ... you must be a racist ...

It's an unfounded accusation with absolutely no evidence. But it's meant to quiet anyone who dares to question the actual qualifications of a 47 year old junior, 1/2 term Senator from Illinois. Forget his skin color ... look at his record ... associations ... life choices ... and books. It's all cause to question him as a leader of any kind. Not a man of color. But, a man who has almost no cause to be president of these United States.

He has become my president and I will continue to support him, question him, and keep an eye on his "new deal" like attitudes. I'm an American ... simple & true ... I support our troops and their missions, I want lower taxes, I want a health care system that will ruin our current system ... I want smaller government ... I want my freedoms kept in tact ... the right to listen to who ever I choose on television and radio ... the right to own any kind of gun I see fit to own for my protection ... the right to worship as I choose and to speak about my faith in the same manner as any other faith ... I want to be free.  I'm SO lucky to be an American woman!

My Liberal Brother - it's NOT a Comedy Show!

My cell phone rang shortly before I left work. From the caller ID I knew it was my younger, liberal brother calling to gloat about BHO winning the election. I answered, singing this little ditty ... written especially for him ...  (sung to, the Yale fight song)

      Hail, hail, B H O ...
he's the bestest guy on the face of the planet
he'll save the world in just one second
Hail, hail to the king of the world
he's only scary if you listen to his words
he just might be the end of us all ...
      YEA !

He was NOT amused ... and has, I'm sure, re-dedicated himself to figuring out how in the world I went so far "right" when I was previously a coolaid drinking "leftie".  Luckily, we don't talk politics often ... especially after my my brother read BHO's two books and began talking about him like he was a saint.

So, consider yourselves lucky if your family agrees with your personal politics. Of course, you can always sing my song to them ... it's effective in ending all political conversations!  ENJOY.
